Nesika Lodge August Work Trip
August 18 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
This summer we are working to help Nesika recover from the Eagle Creek fire which destroyed our two dorms and several other structures. We are still entering Nesika lodge via roads only per Strict Forest Service permit rules. The gate just past the 10 mile marker on Larch MTN Road on the left side will be open at 9:00AM on Saturday morning. From there, we follow 6 miles of primitive, sometimes rough, dirt and gravel roads to get to the lodge.
We will be opening the gate again on Sat. evening and Sunday around 10:00 AM to exit. (Please plan to stay for the day – we cannot make multiple trips throughout the day to take people to the locked gate.)
This work trip will be focused on brush clearing long the Basin road, the electrical system, generator shack repair, wood moving and clean-up. We have safety gear that can be used at the lodge. There is running potable water at the lodge. We have flush toilets. One shower is working but water pressure is low.
The lodge is available to sleep in if you bring a pad and sleeping bag, or bring your tent, pad and sleeping bag. The road is only passable with high clearance, 4 wheel drive vehicles. Other vehicles wil have to park and you’ll need to carpool in with others. Lodging and meals are free on work trips to show our appreciation for your help.
